The Digital Green Certificate
Using DESKO scanners to read QR codes on vaccination certificates and digital vaccination passports
A digital vaccination certificate - a kind of "Corona passport" - has been speculated about for some time. Several countries have already opted for a solution, for example to lift travel restrictions for people who have already been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Israel, for example, is relying on the "green passport," Denmark is working on an app, China is offering certificates via WeChat, and a digital proof of vaccination is also expected to be available in Germany in a few weeks.
All of these projects have one thing in common: data transfer via QR code. Personal data as well as the type of vaccine or data of the first and second vaccination can be stored in this code.
The vaccination card is validated by matching it with a valid identification document. This enables efficient and fast verification, which is far superior to the handwritten entries and stickers in the conventional vaccination card.
DESKO scanners simplify the entire process because both ID documents and the QR code can be read and matched with just one device. Since many international ID documents use barcodes as data carriers, DESKO devices are designed for this technology and capture information from 1D and 2D barcodes.
DESKO scanners are therefore the ideal solution for checking QR codes on vaccination certificates and digital vaccination cards and comparing them with the corresponding identification documents in the travel sector, in authorities and at border controls.
